Who is Erin?
I'm Erin Schlozman — a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, perinatal mental health specialist, and the author of The Myth of the Perfect Mom: From Postpartum Perfection to Everyday Joy (AP/Penguin Random House, April 2026).
The clinical years. I spent 15+ years treating patients — in private practice, community mental health, and as a behavioral health clinician inside one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country. By the time I sat down to write a proposal, I had the material, the evidence, and the certainty that it needed to be a book.
The self-taught pivot. No one teaches clinicians how to turn expertise into a sellable proposal. I didn't come to publishing as a writer — I came to it as a therapist who had to learn the business side of books from scratch: comp titles, platform-building, querying, the whole trade. I figured it out once for myself. Now I do it for other people, more efficiently than I did it the first time.
The proof. I sent 5 query letters. I got 5 offers of representation. My book sold at auction after just 6 weeks on submission.
Why I do this now. I'm represented by Amanda Bernardi at Europa Content, I've built an engaged audience of 200K, and I've sat on both sides of the table — the clinician trying to be taken seriously by agents, and the author whose proposal got acquired. Now I help other helping professionals do the same: no BS, no guessing, just what actually gets an agent and editor invested in your work.
